Low Profile Dogs

This is probably not an original thought but one that needs pointing out none the less. Oriental Dogs are very well behaved. There are dogs running around everywhere, but they are very well mannered. They never bark, growl, jump on people, lie in the road, or run around one’s feet in a manner that makes walking difficult. The most impressive thing of all is that they do not bother the food vendors on the street. There will be a sausage or large chunk of meat just hanging in a window or doorway and dogs do not even turn their heads to take a look.
Perhaps these street mutts have been scolded enough to know what not to do. Perhaps generation after generation of street mutt has developed an instinct for survival. Perhaps there is some sort of communication between dogs. Something along the lines of, “Remember what happened to Sparky” or “Mess with the street meat today, become the street meat tomorrow”. Whatever the case, dogs around here walk a fine line.

I think though the most likely explanation is that there is some sort of underground contingency training center for mutt survival. Courses include: The low profile dog; Look down, never make eye contact with a human; Be the gray dog; The guilty dog barks never again; How to win friends and influence the butcher; 7 Habits of highly effective mutts; Straying off the menu; Survivordog; Coping with your place on the food chain; Eat and be eaten; 10 ways to a healthier mutt and It’s not my fault I’m a canine.

Whatever the case, there is something going on here that makes the relationship with man’s best friend seem different.
